1. Acceptance
These Terms of Use govern your use of the Wood Identifier application and related website. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What the service does
Wood Identifier is intended to help users examine wood characteristics and obtain identification-oriented information. Results are informational and may be incomplete, uncertain, or incorrect.
Do not rely on Wood Identifier as the sole basis for structural, safety-critical, medical, environmental, commercial, legal, conservation, or other high-stakes decisions. When exact species identification matters, use an appropriately qualified expert or laboratory method.
3. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use the service and for evaluating results in context. You agree not to misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, submit unlawful or infringing material, or use the service in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.
You are also responsible for safely handling timber, finishes, dust, tools, plants, fungi, pests, and other materials encountered during identification. An app result does not establish that a material is safe to cut, burn, ingest, touch, transport, sell, or use for a particular purpose.
4. Content you provide
You retain whatever rights you hold in content you submit. You grant the limited rights reasonably necessary to process that content for the feature you requested, operate and secure the service, and provide support. You must have permission to submit the content you provide.
5. Intellectual property
The Wood Identifier name, interface, site design, text, graphics, software, and other service materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws except where third-party rights apply. These terms do not transfer ownership of the service or its underlying materials to you.
6. Availability and changes
Features may be added, changed, suspended, or removed, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We may update the app or website to improve functionality, security, compatibility, or compliance.
7. Third-party services
The app or website may depend on third-party platforms, stores, hosting, computing, or other services. Their own terms and policies may apply to your use of those services. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.
8. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Wood Identifier and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of or inability to use the service, or from reliance on an identification result. Any limitation applies only to the extent enforceable in your jurisdiction.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. Access may be restricted or terminated where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks, legal requirements, or material violations of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the service or applicable requirements evolve. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use after an updated version takes effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
